FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

GREENSPRING’S CEO FUNDS FINANCIAL PLANNING SCHOLARSHIPS FOR TOWSON UNIVERSITY

Towson, MD, January 27, 2022 – Greenspring Advisors, an independent, fee-only Registered Investment Advisor that serves individuals and businesses from its offices in Maryland and New Jersey, is pleased to announce that CEO, Patrick Collins, and his wife Beth have funded two scholarships at Towson University in their Financial Planning program.

Less than 4% of the approximately 87,000 CFP® professionals are Black or Hispanic, resulting in a severe lack of racial diversity in the financial planning profession. The Greenspring Advisors Financial Planning Scholarships attempts to close the opportunity gap by providing funding for two students each year to obtain a degree in Financial Planning.

Collins stated, “For too long the financial planning industry has been complacent in maintaining the status quo as it relates to diversity amongst our financial advisors and staff. This scholarship is in pursuit of providing more exposure and opportunity to this amazing profession to people of color. We are excited to partner with Towson University, which offers a Financial Planning degree, allowing students to become a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM, shortly after they graduate. “

Collins went on to say, “We are not only eager about helping more people enter the profession, but we are also excited about mentoring these students, an additional and important component of the scholarship fund.”

To complement the scholarship, Greenspring has a formal internship program, designed to give students exposure to multiple departments within the firm.  Collins added, “We know our most important asset is our people, and we will continue to invest in the next generation of leaders at Greenspring and throughout our great industry.”
