It is an incredibly heartwarming experience to see just how far the Greenspring Grant Program goes, so please enjoy reading about the fantastic things these organizations have accomplished.

Junior Achievement of South Central Pennsylvania

Junior Achievement of South Central PA’s mission is to build a culture where every individual —students, educators, volunteers, and staff—feels valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.

During the 2024–2025 school year, 29,413 students in Pre-K–12th grade in Lancaster County participated in Junior Achievement’s hands-on financial literacy, career readiness, and entrepreneurship programs. These programs teach students the essential skill of managing money, equipping them with the knowledge necessary to achieve financial security as adults. Beyond the lessons, these programs inspire students to envision a successful future for themselves. Junior Achievement had a record-breaking year, reaching a total of 113,416 students in Pre-K–12th grade in the 2024-2025 school year.

Dent Education

Dent Education’s mission is to partner with Baltimore youth to ignite their ability to shape the world around them.

With support from Greenspring Advisors, Dent Education’s Accelerate Your Dent (AYD) incubator empowered 43 Baltimore youth entrepreneurs in 2025 to launch real businesses. These ventures included uplifting fashion brands, a dessert book club, AI workshops for elementary schoolers, and mental health initiatives. In Spring 2025, 11 youth entrepreneurs launched their ventures, followed by 32 additional innovators in two cohorts during their Bet on Baltimore summer internship.

Highlights included Jalil Liverman, who grew his nonprofit, Dream Big Inferno, with Dent as his fiscal sponsor. He ran his own five-week summer program for 10 youths, funded by YouthWorks, and expanded his landscaping business, Mr. J’s Seasonal Services, to be featured on the news. Additionally, Semiah Luna held a book signing at Mahogany Books’ Black Books Matter Fest. Through the efforts of Dent Education, Baltimore youth earned wages while gaining entrepreneurial skills, financial literacy, and social capital, helping build the next generation of innovators.

Maryland Center for Collegiate Financial Wellness

The Maryland Center for Collegiate Financial Wellness’s mission is to foster a continuum of campus-based financial wellness programming and supports that build financial life skills and empower students to thrive.

The MCCFW utilized the grant from Greenspring Advisors to host the CRREST Academy Challenge at Towson University in April 2025. The CRREST Academy is an online financial education course designed to address the unique financial education and wellness needs of college and career school students. The Academy comprises 18 video modules with experiential exercises that cover topics including financial aid, basic needs, credit cards, and investing. Initial analysis of student learning showed an average pre-test score of 64.9% and an average post-test score of 79%.

The MCCFW collaborated with a multi-departmental team of campus-based professionals from Towson, targeting students who participated in the university’s Student Success Programs, including TRIO, SAGE, and First Gen Forward. More than 200 students participated in the challenge, which was launched during Money Smart Week.

Maryland Council on Economic Education

The mission of the Maryland Council on Economic Education is to equip preK-12 educators with the tools and resources to build their students’ financial capability and economic understanding, creating financially empowered Marylanders.

During the 2024–2025 school year, the Maryland Council on Economic Education directly impacted 236,963 students across Maryland through professional development for teachers, classroom resources, and student learning programs. Some of the educator support included 122 professional development workshops and courses offered to teachers, as well as the 16 Annual Personal Finance & Economic Educator Summit, with over 200 educators attending sessions featuring Maryland teachers and national experts.

MCEE also provided a multitude of student learning programs, including but not limited to: the Personal Finance Challenge, where 273 high school teams competed and one placed 2 in the National Challenge; the Economics Challenge, where Mount Hebron High School teams defended their National Championship titles in both divisions; and the Poster Contest, where K-8 students illustrated financial concepts through art, with winners’ work displayed at the Maryland Treasury Building.
